Father Irénée Beaubien, SJ Has Died

It is with deep sadness that the Canadian Centre for Ecumenism announces the death of its founder, Father Irénée Beaubien, SJ, in the infirmary of Jean-de-Brébeuf community of Richelieu, on Monday, May 15, 2017, at the age of 101 years.

Until his last breath, Fr. Beaubien was for the Centre a spiritual guide, a faithful friend and a model to follow. We offer our sincere condolences to his family and his Jesuits brothers. The team of the Canadian Center for Ecumenism will continue to follow in his steps to accomplish his dream of a world of faiths in collaboration without barriers.

Visitation will be at Gesù church (1202, rue de Bleury, Montreal) on Friday, May 26, from 7:00 pm to 9 pm.
The funeral will be celebrated on Saturday, May 27th at 10:00 am
at the same location and will be presided by Father Erik Oland, SJ, the Provincial Superior of the Jesuits, with the participation of the Canadian Center for Ecumenism.
